New Liberal Candidates - Badcoe, Lee, Colton, Davenport, Hurtle Vale

The Liberal Party has announced five new candidates to contest the 2018 state election following the selection of candidates in the key seats of Badcoe, Lee, Colton, Davenport and Hurtle Vale.

State Liberal Leader Steven Marshall has welcomed the candidates announced.  The newest crop of candidates includes a Paralympic champion, Mayor, City of West Torrens Councillor, technology entrepreneur and CEO of the Australia China Business Council SA.

Unley Mayor Lachlan Clyne welcomed his selection as the candidate for Badcoe. “I love my community and have worked hard for the past seven years as Unley Mayor to improve the lives of locals. I’m motivated and ready to carry on that hard work at a state level for the Marshall Liberal Team in Badcoe.”

Councillor for City of West Torrens Cr Steven Rypp will contest the seat of Lee. “Community engagement is my passion. I can’t wait to get out there, listen to the concerns of the people of Lee and work with them as part of the Liberal Marshall Team to find constructive solutions to their problems.”

Australia’s most successful Paralympian, world record swimmer Matt Cowdrey OAM has been selected to run in Colton. “Throughout my life and my career I have overcome obstacles through grit and determination. It’s that same grit and determination I’ll use to win Colton for the Marshall Liberal Team and more importantly, get our great state back on track.”

State Party President and founding CEO of CarSales.com Steve Murray has won preselection for Davenport. “Like most South Australians I am fed-up with the arrogant Weatherill Labor Government that can’t keep the lights on and is holding our state back. I’m committed to fighting for the people of Davenport and doing all I can to bring jobs and opportunity back to South Australia.”

Australia China Business Council SA CEO Aaron Duff was announced as the candidate to contest Hurtle Vale. “I firmly believe engagement with Asia will be key to creating new jobs and wealth for our state. I have devoted my career to improving those linkages, which is why I’m excited to be part of the Marshall Liberal Team that’s devoted to delivering the Globe Link plan to boost exports.”
