SA economy struggling under Labor

The Weatherill Government’s economic credentials have taken another hit as South Australia remains in seventh place according to CommSec’s State of the States report.

“Unemployment in SA is a major problem for this Government, with the State’s unemployment rate remaining the highest in the nation and the trend unemployment rate 15.4 per cent above the decade average,” said Shadow Minister for Employment Corey Wingard.

“After 14 years it’s clear the Weatherill Government doesn’t have a credible economic plan to turn around this unacceptable unemployment trend.

“Tasmania is often the measuring stick by which the South Australian economy is measured, but Tasmania’s jump from eighth place to fourth shows SA is underperforming.

“South Australia is also being outperformed by every state when it comes to retail spending growth on the decade average, with only the Northern Territory ranked below SA.

“That’s why the State Liberals are putting forward positive plans to grow our economy, such as our policy to deregulate shop trading hours which will allow businesses to remain open, employ more South Australians, and allow consumers to buy what they want, when they want.
