SA cops a battering in business confidence and conditions

There is more bad news for South Australian businesses with the NAB Monthly Business Survey showing a downturn in business conditions and business confidence.

SA was the only state in the country to record a fall in business conditions in March and was one of only two states to record a reduction in business confidence.

“These results confirm the energy crisis in South Australia created by the Weatherill Labor Government has hit businesses hard," said Shadow Minister for Industry Corey Wingard.

“The worst business conditions and poor business confidence is damaging to jobs growth in South Australia.

“We know SA has the highest unemployment rate in the nation on trend terms and sadly we have held that title for more than two years.

“Let’s not forget SA's youth unemployment is also the worst in Australia at 16.1 per cent.

“After 15 years of Labor, South Australia is falling further and further behind all the other states and only a Marshall Liberal Government has the plan, passion and people to lift South Australia back to where we deserve to be.”

To improve business conditions and business confidence, a Marshall Liberal Government will focus on:

· Reducing the tax burden on businesses and households;
· Cutting red tape and unnecessary regulation;
· Supporting export businesses and encouraging their growth;
· Fostering entrepreneurialism;
· Investing in productive infrastructure; and,
· Supporting growth opportunities for our regional businesses and industries
