Startups failing to choose SA

The release of the 2015 Startup Muster report reveals that South Australia has the second worst level of startups of any state in Australia.

Earlier this week the Sensis Business Index for the December 2015 quarter revealed that small businesses in South Australia have the lowest confidence in the nation.

“The Weatherill Labor Government has failed to adequately promote and support the South Australian startup community,” said Parliamentary Secretary for Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Business Start-Up Vincent Tarzia.

“Startups are our future small businesses and we need to have business conditions that allow these companies to thrive.

“With a Government that is anti-innovation and pro heavy regulation and high taxes, it is no wonder that startups are choosing to establish themselves elsewhere.

“South Australia continues to have the highest unemployment rate in the nation.

“We need a Government that supports South Australian startups and helps them develop their ideas into strong commercial realities.

"We need to urgently address the crisis of confidence in our small business sector and urgently take action to support businesses to create jobs.

“The Weatherill Labor Government now needs to outline what it will do to increase business startups in South Australia.”
