Liberals plan to boost SA’s exports
The South Australian Liberals have announced a policy today to boost South Australia’s exports by establishing a competitive grants program worth $6 million over four years.
Under a Redmond Liberal Government:
  • $1.5 million will be available annually through a competitive grants program
  • Grants will be given on a matching basis with government providing up to 50 per cent of the total funds
  • Eligibility will be open to companies, sectors, brokers and chambers of commerce with a viable plan to generate export dollars for SA
  • The application and acquittals process will be simple and industry friendly
  • An industry-led group will be established to oversee and provide advice regarding the awarding of grants.
“The South Australian Liberals recognise the importance of strong export growth and are committed to supporting local industries to ensure they achieve their full potential,” Liberal Leader Isobel Redmond said.
“This is why we are committed to stimulating the economy and boosting the State’s exports.”
“Just last week, ABS data revealed that exports contracted by 6.6 per cent in the 12 months to October – the worst result of all states,” Shadow Minister for Industry and Trade Steven Marshall said.
“The Labor Government previously committed to a target of $25 billion worth of exports by 2013, but they have now pushed this out until 2020.
“It is imperative that South Australian industries tap into international markets to expand their export base and develop other innovative overseas opportunities.”
