Zane Basic has worked across different industries – from being a construction labourer, to a financial industry consultant helping businesses, to now being a senior parliamentary advisor. He understands the meaning of hard work and he wants to bring this work ethic to the task of delivering more for our Hills and Fleurieu communities that are too often forgotten by Labor Governments.

Zane has lived and worked across many of the diverse communities that make up the electorate of Mayo over many years.

Growing up as the son of first-generation Croatian immigrants, who came to South Australia with nothing but a suitcase, Zane understands what it’s like when times are tough – especially in a cost-of-living crisis.

Holding undergraduate and post-graduate university degrees, he knows how important a quality education is to getting ahead.

As a young person, Zane is passionate about making housing affordable and ensuring every Australian can have a home to call their own.

From his time working in small and family businesses Zane understands what hard work is and the commitment it takes to grow a small business. His understanding of operating a family business and capacity for hard work, coupled with his down-to-earth attitude will endear Zane to people across Mayo.
